Alyssa Burno of Palm Springs Friends of Philharmonic Discusses Expanding Music Programs
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - The Palm Springs Friends of Philharmonic is looking to expand, support, and also financially boost music programs in schools across the valley. The organization just created the position of education and events coordinator. Alyssa Burno will be the conduit to music teachers and students alike. News Channel 3's Peter Daut spoke with Burno about her new position and how it will make a difference in the lives of Valley kids.

Grant fine tunes Palm Springs Friends of Philharmonic's efforts
'Our board of directors is focused on trying to increase access to orchestral music out here in the valley and taking it outside of the walls of the McCallum Theatre.' Mills said. 'And outside of being limited to people who might not be able to afford tickets to our concerts.'

'I’m thinking about projects and ways to expand and appeal to a broader community and reach people who are in the Coachella Valley year-round. People who may not be the ones you see in the concert hall, trying to find other ways to reach out and embrace the larger community instead of the subset that we’re currently embracing.'
