The Minería Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, under the direction of Carlos Miguel Prieto, brings the vibrant sounds of Latin America to Palm Desert. Known for its energy and precision, the orchestra has become a cultural ambassador for Mexico, delighting audiences worldwide with its artistry.

Trumpeter Pacho Flores takes the spotlight in Paquito D’Rivera’s Venezuelan Concerto, winner of the 2023 Latin GRAMMY for Best Classical Contemporary Composition — a dazzling blend of virtuosity and Caribbean color. The program also features Haydn’s sparkling Trumpet Concerto, a timeless showcase of elegance and brilliance.

The orchestra’s rich heritage shines in works from across Latin America: Revueltas’ Sensemayá, a powerful evocation of Afro-Caribbean ritual; Ginastera’s Estancia: Four Dances, bursting with Argentine folk rhythms; and Márquez’s beloved Danzón No. 2, whose irresistible melodies have made it a modern classic.

This program offers a feast of rhythm, melody, and cultural spirit — a celebration of Mexico’s leading orchestra and the vitality of Latin American music.
